Artisan Swiss Watch Service is an independent watch service studio on Level 1 at 222 Pitt Street in the Sydney CBD. It was established in 2018 and has been serving clients since 2019. The studio states that it is an authorised repairer for several Swiss watch brands, that most work is completed in house by its watchmakers, and that it serves watch owners across Australia and New Zealand. In 2026 it moved into a larger workshop and service centre at the same address.
A watch and its movement are examined before servicing starts, and you receive a price quote for approval before any work begins. The studio states there is no charge if you decide not to proceed, apart from a small number of brands that charge an estimate refusal fee. A complete service runs through three stages.
Other services listed include partial service, battery replacement with a water test, watch polishing and timekeeping adjustment.
The studio says its workshop uses tooling and equipment supplied by brands including Cartier, Omega, Panerai, TAG Heuer, Baume & Mercier and Montblanc, alongside traditional watchmaking instruments. Equipment named on the site includes a spiral caseback opener with protective pads, a Witschi demagnetiser, a Witschi Micromat C timing machine, Greiner automatic cleaning machines, a Witschi Proofmaster S for dry water-resistance testing, and a wet pressure testing machine rated to 1200 metres for locating leaks.
John Zhang is the founder and lead watch repairer. He lists trade membership of The Watch & Clockmakers of Australia since 2012, work as a watch service technician with Richemont Australia from 2012 to 2019 and with Designa Accessories Australia from 2006 to 2012, and a role as trainer for the IWC Master Watchmaking Class from 2015 to 2018. His recent training includes watch service training at the Omega Service Center in Melbourne in 2024 and with Breitling in Sydney in 2023.
No appointment is required during regular hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. Visits between 4pm and 5pm need to be arranged in advance.
