How testing and removal work

For testing, a trained technician inspects the property and takes samples, which are analysed by a NATA accredited laboratory. Turnaround options are four days, two days or 24 hours, and results are emailed back. Samples can also be dropped at the Parramatta office. For removal, the site is inspected, a removal plan is drawn up, industry safety measures are put in place, the material is taken away and disposed of, and a final inspection confirms the work is complete. Registers and surveys are required for workplaces built before 31 December 2003 and for strata managed buildings, and are often needed for a council DA or CDC application.
