Dural Family Medical Practice

Dural Family Medical Practice is a mixed billing general practice in the Dural Business Park, on New Line Road behind McDonald’s Dural. It has looked after families across Dural, the Hills District and north-west Sydney since 1992.

The practice keeps appointments aside for same day and urgent walk-in patients, and its treatment room is equipped for minor surgery, skin cancer removals and walk-in emergencies.

The GPs are independent associates and all are Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners: Dr Lakmini Gunaratne (MBBS, FRACGP, DCH), Dr Lily Bartlett (MBBS, DCH, FRACGP), Dr Kalpana Loganath (MbChB, DCH, CWH, Clin Dip Pall Med, FRACGP), Dr Kevin Aung, Dr Radeeka Liyanage, Dr Udara Gunawardane, Dr Sharmini Mendis and Dr Christopher Chang. Dr Andrew Terluk consults at the practice as a cardiologist.

Nurses, pathology collection and an exercise physiologist work on site. The physiotherapy, chiropractic and dietetics team at the same address is an independent group, Your Health Sport & Spine, booked direct on (02) 9651 1395.

Unit 3-4, 286 New Line Road, Dural NSW 2158, in the business complex at the corner of New Line Road and Old Northern Road. Parking is available in front of and beside the practice, with overflow parking near McDonald’s and KFC and a stairwell up to the practice level.

Common questions

Does Dural Family Medical Practice bulk bill?

It is a mixed billing practice, so it depends on the doctor. Dr Lakmini Gunaratne, Dr Kalpana Loganath, Dr Udara Gunawardane and Dr Kevin Aung bulk bill pension and concession card holders and all children under 16. Dr Lily Bartlett bulk bills children under 16 only. Dr Christopher Chang, Dr Sharmini Mendis and Dr Radeeka Liyanage charge private fees to all patients. Gap fees apply to everyone on Saturdays.

What does a standard appointment cost?

A standard consultation of up to 15 minutes is $98 up front with a $45.05 Medicare rebate, so the gap is $52.95. On Saturday the same appointment is $115 up front and the gap is $69.95. The practice uses Medicare Online and Hicaps, so the rebate is returned to your bank account on the day.

Can I get a same day appointment in Dural?

What are the opening hours?

Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm, and Saturday 8.30am to 12.00pm. The practice is closed on Sunday.

Who do I call after hours?

For non-urgent problems outside opening hours, ring the National Home Doctor Service on 137 425. For an emergency, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Can I have a phone or video consultation?

Yes. A standard phone consultation is billed at the same rate as an in-person one, and a short call under six minutes for a script or a referral is $60 up front. To claim the Medicare rebate on a phone consultation you must have been seen in person at the practice within the previous 12 months.

Is there a fee for missing an appointment?

Yes. A $40 fee applies if you do not attend, or if you cancel within two hours of the appointment time. Medical emergencies are excepted.
