Purplestar Communications is an information design and digital media studio at Willoughby, on Sydney’s lower north shore. The work is converting information, data and content into visual and animated formats, covering infographics, data visualisation, presentations and multimedia built for digital devices.
It is the creative development of information primarily by visual means. In practice that means taking a report, a dataset or a dense body of content and rebuilding it as something a reader can take in quickly, such as an infographic, a chart or a redesigned presentation.
Information design is static and visual, built to be read. Digital media design is time based, so the information unfolds as motion graphics, animation or rich media. The studio offers both, and which one suits depends on where the material will be seen.
Yes. Copywriting and content editing are part of the service list, alongside research and competitor analysis. That means a project can start from raw source material rather than finished copy.
Material where the content is complex and the audience has limited attention, such as pitch and board presentations, project and research summaries, and marketing pieces that need to explain something before they can sell it. Project management and quality assurance are listed as part of the delivery.
The studio is at Studio 1, 59 Tulloh Street, Willoughby NSW 2068, in Sydney’s lower north shore. Published hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
