Urban Flower is a fifth generation family florist at A19, 161 Arthur Street, Homebush West, directly across the road from the Sydney Flower Markets. The family’s flower history goes back to 1902, when Gaetano Guiffre began growing marigolds, violets, roses and snapdragons at Mascot and carting them to the Queen Victoria Markets by horse and cart. Later generations ran florist shops around Sydney, including the All Diggers Florist at Annandale, Kogarah and Enfield.
Posies start from around $129 and bouquets from around $149, with luxury arrangements and large blooms running higher. The website has a minimum spend of $100 plus delivery.
Being across from the flower markets means stock is bought in the morning, arranged through the day and delivered the same day. Orders placed by 2pm Monday to Saturday go out that day, with a flat $19.95 fee anywhere in the Sydney region. The standard delivery window is 7am to 7pm for homes and up to 5pm for business addresses, which is a wider window than the shop’s own hours because drivers stay out after the shop closes. Priority delivery by a set time can be chosen at checkout, and emergency two hour and urgent three hour options are available. An emergency or urgent order placed after the 2pm cut off is delivered by 10am the next morning. Deliveries are made by Urban Flower’s own drivers rather than a courier, and the shop texts a photo of the arrangement before it is dispatched.
