Extreme Dance Competition

Extreme Dance Competition is a performing arts competition presented by Stardom Productions, which calls it its flagship Sydney event. It runs each June for solo dancers, small groups, studio troupes and school troupes, and the 2027 competition is held at Abbotsleigh in Wahroonga and the Greenhalgh Theatre.

Common questions

How is a dancer’s age worked out?

For solos, duos, trios, quartets and championships, it is the dancer’s age on 31 December 2027. For troupes, it is the age of the eldest dancer on 1 January 2027.

How long can a routine be?

Solos, duos, trios, quartets and championship routines can run for up to 3 minutes. Troupes have 5 minutes, and musical theatre troupes have a longer limit of 6 minutes.

How are routines judged?

Scores are weighted 35 per cent technique, 35 per cent performance quality, 20 per cent staging and choreography, and 10 per cent costuming, props and presentation. Performance carries the same weight as technique.

Can I get a refund?

You can get a full refund if you withdraw before entries close. After the closing date, a refund needs a valid medical certificate received before the dancer’s section begins.

When do entries open and close?

Entries for 2027 open on 1 January 2027 and close on 31 March 2027. Check the Extreme Dance Competition website for the entry details.
