That Dog Artist is a one person art studio in Perth, Western Australia, run by Hannah Osborne. She draws bespoke pet portraits in coloured pencil, working from photographs supplied by the client, and ships finished artwork across Australia and overseas.
The drawing itself takes roughly 25 to 40 hours of work, depending on the size of the portrait. Overall turnaround depends on how many commissions are already booked, which changes through the year. Christmas commissions usually need to be booked months ahead.
A clear, well lit, high resolution photo works best, ideally taken in natural light at your pet’s eye level with plenty of detail around the eyes, nose and fur. One main photo sets the pose, but extra photos are welcome because they help show your pet’s character. Hannah will tell you whether a photo will work before you commit.
Yes. Several photographs can be combined into a single portrait, so you do not need a posed group photo. A separate photo of each pet can be merged into one group picture.
Yes. Portraits are packaged carefully and shipped worldwide, with cost and delivery time depending on the destination and the size of the artwork. Clients overseas can ask for a shipping quote by giving their location. If you are in Perth you can collect in person instead.
Yes, memorial portraits are part of the work. You will need photos of your pet, but they do not have to be perfect ones. Get in touch to talk through what you have and what you would like.
